Uptown Partners Welcomes You

In early 2009, Uptown Martinsville launched a collaborative set of strategies that are designed to create a robust atmosphere for business, exciting gathering spaces and celebration of the arts and culture. At the heart of Martinsville and Henry County, Uptown has served as a traditional economic and social hub of the region for decades. After years of decline, the community has begun to come together in an effort to restore Uptown’s vitality and make it into a regional destination again.

Chief accomplishments so far include:

• Building the Shared Vision for Uptown
• Identifying the new foundations that will support Uptown’s renewal
• Coordinating information and partnership development in the work of the Uptown Partners
• Assisting the City in creating a Physical Master Plan to guide Uptown’s development.
• Establishing a Community Development Corporation and building its capacity to carry out commercial and housing development projects; attract additional resources to support revitalization, and continue collaborative strategy building
• Assisting with the implementation of early stage projects
